Privacy notice
Your privacy is important. This page summarises Recovery Cymru Community’s privacy notice and links to the current full notice.
What information Recovery Cymru collects
Recovery Cymru Community collects and stores personal information from members, volunteers and staff so it can provide support, meet its duty of care and manage the organisation safely.
This may include contact details, date of birth, risk indicators and attendance records. Depending on someone’s role, Recovery Cymru may also collect information such as emergency contact details, references and criminal record information. It may also collect special category information such as sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability status where this has been provided through member, volunteer or staff forms.
How information is used
Information is used internally to provide appropriate support and member benefits, support volunteers, and manage staff. Recovery Cymru may also use anonymised information externally to report on activities, promote the benefits of mutual aid and peer support, and explain the organisation’s work in publications, broadcast and social media.
How information is protected
Recovery Cymru states that personal information is protected on password-managed secure computer systems.
Who information may be shared with
Recovery Cymru may sometimes share information with other people or organisations where this helps provide care and support. The current notice refers to Alliance partners, including CAVDAS, and to the Welsh Government reporting database used to monitor substance misuse services nationally.
Recovery Cymru states that personal information is not shared without express consent. Data used in reports is anonymised so individuals cannot be identified.
If you do not want your information collected or stored
Your personal information belongs to you. The privacy notice explains that if you refuse to allow personal information to be collected or stored, you can still access the Recovery Centre and group support. However, some member benefits may be limited, such as text message support, telephone recovery support, one-to-one support, volunteering and personal development opportunities, or evidence of engagement.
How long information is held
Recovery Cymru holds member and volunteer personal information for up to five years from the end of engagement, unless deletion is requested sooner.
Printed copies
Printed copies of the privacy notice are available on request.
